The Mangyongdae Schoolchildren’s Palace was opened in May 2, 1989 as a “comprehensive curricular educational center for schoolchildren.” It consists of an eight-story central building and various annex buildings totaling over 103,000 sq. m. The annexes house a science block, an art block, a gymnasium, an indoor swimming pool and a 2,000 seat theater. There are 690 rooms where children are taught everything from calligraphy to taekwondo, chess to basketball. There are music and dance practice rooms, mathematics, chemistry, astronomy, computer science, automotive, machine tool, sports, etc.

Over 12,000 pupils visit the palace each day, cared for by over 500 teachers and several hundred more lecturers and assistants.

To Mangyongdae το “παλάτι των μαθητών” λειτουργεί από τον Μάη του 1989. Αποτελεί ένα μεγάλης κλίμακας μαθητικό παιδαγωγικό-μορφωτικό κέντρο. Οι οκτώ όροφοι του και τα διάφορα βοηθητικά κτήρια δημιουργούν ένα συγκρότημα που καλύπτει συνολικά επιφάνεια 103.000 m2. Στα βοηθητικά κτήρια συμπεριλαμβάνονται τα κτήρια της Επιστήμης, των Τεχνών, του Αθλητισμού, καθώς επίσης και ένα κλειστό κολυμβητήριο και ένα Θέατρο 2.000 θέσεων. Στις 690 αίθουσες του συγκροτήματος τα παιδιά διδάσκονται τα πάντα. Από την καλλιγραφία ως το Tae-kwon-do και από το σκάκι ως και το μπάσκετ.

Πάνω από 12.000 παιδιά επισκέπτονται κάθε μέρα το παιδαγωγικό συγκρότημα, το οποίο στελεχώνεται από περισσότερους από 500 παιδαγωγούς και αρκετές εκατοντάδες ακόμα δασκάλους και βοηθούς.
