Greece: Results of Regional Elections 2010
In the yesterday’s Regional Elections, just 1 year after the last parliamentary elections, the Greek people clearly condemned PA.SO.K. (Panhellenic Socialist Movement), the ruling social democratic pro-EU party and N.D. (New Democracy) the conservative pro-EU party.
It was an important success for the lists of “People’s Rally” (ΛΑΪΚΗ ΣΥΣΠΕΙΡΩΣΗ, LAIKI SISPIROSI) which is supported by the Communist Party of Greece (KKE).
There was a significant increase for the KKE. Nationwide the KKE came close to 11%.
The KKE was the only party which saw an increase in its percentage of the vote (+3.3%) and in actual votes (+75,000) in relation to last year’s parliamentary elections (2009).
